The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Tornado Watch for portions of
Southern Illinois
Southwest Indiana
Western Kentucky
Far Southeast Missouri

* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 400 PM until
1000 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include…
A couple tornadoes possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 60 mph possible

SUMMARY…Air mass has steadily destabilized within a very moist air
mass, even as cloud cover has tended to persist. Moderately strong
low-level shear associated with a remnant MCV (Mesoscale convective
vortex) will potentially pose a tornado risk associated with
supercells.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 45 statute miles
north and south of a line from 25 miles west of Paducah KY to 20
miles south southeast of Owensboro KY. For a complete depiction of

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

REMEMBER…A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings.

surface and aloft to 1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind
